Funeral services for Michael G. (Mick) Murphy, 49, were held May 1 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Albia. He died of cancer April 28 at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines.
A Winterset resident from the mid-1960s to mid 1970s, he was born September 30, 1942 in Albia to Michael T. and Evelyn (Nucko) Murphy and married Jean Walbert July 1, 1961 there. He was a former meatcutter in Des Moines, a former partner in Winterset IGA Grocery and most recently resident manager of a Des Moines retirement home. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Albia, and its Happy Home Sunday School class.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Michael of Ankeny and Mark of Albia; two daughter, Joni Martin of Creston and Jennifer Murphy of Albia; his mother and two brothers, Tom and Bill, all of Albia; and three grandchildren.
Burial was at Oak View Cemetery, Albia.
