DEATH OF L. V. PRICE

Was Well Known Citizen of Winterset and Active in Public Affairs

L. V. Price, better known to many as "Mont" passed away at seven o'clock yesterday evening at the Winterset hospital.

Mr. Price's health had been on the decline for several months. Seven weeks ago he underwent an operation which disclosed cancer which had become involved to the extent that an operation could do no more than alleviate his suffering and prolong his life for a few weeks. Knowing his condition he had expressed to his friends the hope that he might soon pass on. Knowing that death was near, he faced it as he had faced the problems of life--courageously and cheerfully.

Mr. Price was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Price, one of the early settlers of Lincoln township. He spent his life of 61 years in Madison county.

While living in Lincoln township, he served two terms as county supervisor, his service to the county in that capacity, being marked by integrity and ability. He also served as deputy treasurer in 1914 and 1915.

For a number of years he had been engaged in banking, first with the First National and later with the Savings bank where he continued to work until his final illness.

The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church at Winterset.

Mrs. Price passed away August 31, 1931. They were the parents of three children. Llyra Alice Thompson of Columbus, Ohio, Russell of Oskaloosa and Norma. He is also survived by a grandson, Loel Edmond Thompson, a sister, Nancy of Los Angeles, California, and a brother, Cliff of Mt. Shasta, California.
