Lloyd “David” Harris, Fla.

Lloyd “David” Harris, 53, of Gainesville, Fla.; died March 25, 1994 at Shands Hospital after a long illness. Funeral services were March 27, 1994 at the Christ United Methodist Church in Gainesville, Fla. Dr. Jimmy G. Jones officiated the services with burial at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Tampa, Fla.

He was born in Wichita, Kan., and moved to Gainesville from Pittsburgh, Pa. He was the pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church in Gainesville, Fla. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pa.; his master’s in Liberal studies at the University of Oklahoma; and his doctorate of ministries at Graduate Theological Foundation at Notre Dame.

Dr. Harris was the director of the Circus Kingdom, a college youth ministries project. He was a visiting professor at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Mass Communications. He was the minister at Oak Grove Community Church and Zion Federated Church in Madison County during 1961-1962.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Trudy Harris of Gainesville; his mother, Mable Gurwell Harris of Starke; and his half-brother, Joseph Grisamore of Des Moines.
