Ira E. Jones, Van Meter

Ira E. ‘Butch’ Jones, 58, of Van Meter, died Nov. 9, 1994 of a heart ailment at home. Funeral services were Nov. 12 at the Westside Pentecostal Church in Des Moines with burial at Rock Island, Ill. National Cemetery.

He was born in Davenport and lived in Des Moines before moving to Dallas County in 1982. He was a self-employed journeyman carpenter, a veteran of the Korean War, a member of the carpenter’s union and a former Camp Fire leader.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Linda Jones; four daughters, Ruth Thompson of Winterset, Montana Jones of Van Meter, and Patty Worsham and Nancy Adrians, both of Calif.; two sons, Butch Jr. of Earlham and Geno of Calif.; his mother, Elsie Arzella Hauman of Davenport; four sisters, Patsy Wright of La., and Phyllis Pierce, Ruth Madsen and Leslie Entler, all of Davenport; one brother, Bob Jones of Ark.; and 14 grandchildren.
