Donald Kohrs, New Virginia

Donald O. Kohrs, 59, of New Virginia, died February 10, 1994 at the Kavannagh House in Des Moines. Funeral services were held February 14, 1994 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Truro with the Rev. Richard Harbart officiating the ceremony. Burial was at the New Virginia Cemetery.

He was born December 26, 1934 in Des Moines to O. J. and Lily Mabel (Smith) Kohrs. He married Geraldine F. Holt in Ames on May 6, 1955. He was a hydraulic technician for the Iowa Air National Guard and operated a private hydraulic shop. He also farmed and lived in New Virginia for 30 years. He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Truro and the Iowa Air National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one granddaughter and one nephew.

Surviving relatives include his wife; three daughters, Cynthia Krusemark and husband David of Waterbury, Neb., Debra Brant and husband Terry of Truro and Pamela Crow and husband James of Truro; one son, Randel Kohrs of Des Moines; two brothers, Harold Kohrs of Cabot, Ark., and Robert Kohrs of New Virginia; two sisters, Virginia Kuder of New Virginia, and sister Dorothy Barnhart of Des Moines; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Kavannagh House or New Virginia’s Lions Club.
