DEATH OF GRANT HOLE

Funeral services for Grant Hole were conducted Sunday afternoon at the church at Peru with the Reverend E. H. Sands in charge. The Masonic service was held in the cemetery west of the church. Members of the lodge from Winterset, Lorimor, Peru, Truro and St. Charles were present.

Mr. Hole has been in ill health the past two years, having suffered a physical breakdown, but he was able to be up most of the time. Death came suddenly last Thursday night. He had attended a political rally in Peru the previous evening.

He was a prominent member of the Masonic lodge being a past Master of the Peru chapter; district lecturer, member of the Des Moines Consistory; member of the Za-Ga-Zig temple at Des Moines and one of the high ranking Masons in this part of the country.

He is survived by his wife and son Roy of Peru and three brothers who live away from here.

George Grant Hole was born near Truro, July 4, 1866, and departed this life at his home in Peru, Iowa, June 2, 1932 at the age of 65 years, 10 months and 23 days.

When a young man, he was united in marriage to Ida Cooney of Jollet, Illinois. To this union was born two sons, Clyde who died in infancy, and Roy who now resides near Peru. The mother passed away when Roy was five months old.

On June 2, 1890 he was united in marriage to Susie Jackson. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Susie, his son, Roy B. Hole, his stepson, Sherman E. Jackson of Gravette, Arkansas, seven grandchildren and the two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Roy B. Hole and Mrs. S. E. Jackson.

He has three brothers living: James, William and Thomas. He has a great host of other relatives and friends.

He was a member of the Peru M. E. church. He was an ardent worker in Masonry, belonging to Hazel Lodge No. 573 A.F. & A.M., Peru, Iowa; Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Masons; Consistory No. 3, Des Moines, Iowa; and Ancient Arabic Order Nobels of the Mystic Shrine Za-Ga-Zig Temple, Des Moines, Iowa. Also, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Madison Lodge No. 136, Winterset, Iowa and a member of Modern Woodman of America, Walnut Camp No. 2691, Peru, Iowa.

He was always a zealous worker in all these organizations and was very favorable to charity. He was very willing to help in time of sickness and distress. He was a kind and loving husband and father. We all cherish his memory.

Funeral services were held in the Peru church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock conducted by the pastor, Rev. E. H. Sands and at the Peru cemetery conducted by the Mason lodge of Peru.
