Death Of DAVID T. SPENCE

David T. Spence, an old time resident of Douglas township, died Monday afternoon at his home at the age of 82 years.

Mr. Spence had been in fairly good health until two months ago, when his body began to fail him. The doctors could not find that he had any disease, but it was his age.

Mr. Spence was a prosperous and prominent farmer of this county, and his friends will regret to hear of his death. He was born in Scotland in 1841, came to the United States in 1866 and to Madison county in 1877. For many years he lived with his brother, John in Jackson townshhip, and then moved to Douglas, where he has since resided. All of his children were at the home place at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held at the Pitzer church Wednesday morning and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, and six children: Mrs. Bessie Huff of Perry, David of Earlham, Margaret M. of Marengo and Will, Vasha and Janet at home.
