MRS. L. S. BOWMAN DIED LAST FRIDAY

Native of Madison County, Had Lived in Winterset Half Century

Mrs. L. S. Bowman, a life-long resident of Madison county, whose home had been in Winterset for half a century, died last Friday, April 18, at the Peterson Nursing home here. She was 78 years of age and had been in failing health for some time.

Mrs. Bowman was the former Sophia Ellen Weaver, daughter of Henry and Mary Persinger Weaver and was born near Patterson May 19, 1868. She was married to Leamond S. Bowman in 1892. They moved into Winterset 50 years ago. Mr. Bowman died on March 5 of this year.

She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Whitney of Omaha, Mrs. Etta Porter of Lorimor, and Mrs. Minnie Francis of Barren Wisc.; and a brother, Joe Weaver, of Carson.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Winterset Baptist church in charge of the Rev. L. F. Davis of Winterset. Burial was made in the McGinnis cemetery.
