Mrs. Minnie Embree, a resident of this community for 56 years, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 1957, at her home in Winterset. She was 85 years of age, and had been ill since laast May.
Mrs. Embree was the widow of Dr. Ed Embree, who was a prominent Winterset physician for many years.
She was a native of Clay county, where she was born Dec. 23, 1871, the former Minnie Jinks. As a child she moved to Spencer with her family, and attended high school there. She came to Winterset in 1901, and for a number of years was employed as a clerk here.
She was married to Doctor Embree in 1907. His death occurred in 1918.
Mrs. Embree was a member of P.E.O. and Current Topic club, and was active in the Winterset Presbyterian church over a long period of years.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Russell Edgington of Winterset; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Winn and Mrs. Lewis Lienemann, both of Spencer.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 1 p.m. from Anderson's home for funerals, conducted by the Rev. George DeF. Fisher, pastor of the Winterset Presbyterian church. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
