Wednesday, May 4, 1955WILL COMP DIED THURSDAY
George William Comp of Winterset, a well-known retired farmer of this community, died at his home here Thursday, April 28, 1955, at the age of 79 years.
Mr. Comp was a life-long resident of Madison county. He was born in Douglas township on Sept. 3, 1875, a son of Joseph and Savilla Comp. On Dec. 10, 1909, he was married to Ida Wermerson of Algona. They farmed in Jackson township until retiring and moving to Winterset in 1943.
He was a life-long member of the West Star Methodist church.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, John H. Comp of Des Moines, and George W. Comp and Russell S. Comp, both of Winterset; a daughter, Mrs. Alice McDonald of Winterset; 10 grandchildren and a brother, Frank Comp of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Winterset Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. W. W. Steinmetz. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
