Wednesday, June 16, 1965RITES AT WINTERSET FOR MRS. MERLE MOORE
Funeral services were held Friday from the Adams Funeral home in Ames at 1:30 and from the the First Methodist Church in Winterset for Mrs. Merle Murrell Moore of Ames, whose death occurred June 9, following a lingering illness. The Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the Winterset church officiated at the services here at 4 o'clock. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
Mrs. Moore was born in Jackson township, Madison County, Iowa, March 3, 1909 the youngest daughter of Arthur B. and Sarah Evans Marston. She attended school here graduating from the Winterset High School with the class of 1928. In early life she united with the United Presbyterian Church at Pitzer and later became a member of the Collegiate Methodist Church at Ames.
In 1931, she was married to David G. Murrell of Winterset and they operated a filling station and grocery store for many years. His death occurred in 1948. On November 10, 1956, she was united in marriage to Claude A. Moore of Ames, who survives her.
She also leaves a son, Robert Murrell of Elkader; and a daughter, Mrs. B. R. Gould of Corpus Christi, Tex.; six grandchildren; and five sisters, Mrs. Lois Streigle of Sigourney, Mrs. Ethel Bond of Ankeny, Mrs. Florence Fife and Mrs. Laura Finney, both of Winterset and Mrs. Alta Sawhill of Flint, Michigan.
