MONROE ROSEMAN OF CEDAR FALLS DIES

Former Earlham Youth Died of Heart Attack at 40 Years

Monroe J. Roseman, a former resident of the Van Meter and Earlham communities, died at his home at Cedar Falls recently of a heart attack. He was 40 years of age.

Mr. Roseman was born Oct. 3, 1905, near Van Meter. When he was 5 years old he moved with his parents to Earlham where he attended school, graduating from the high school there with the class of 1923. He attended Simpson college at Indianola for three years, and was affiliated with Alpha Delta fraternity in that school.

He was married July 15, 1935, to Elma Brown of Winterset, at the Penn Center church. They were the parents of one son, John Monroe.

Since 1933 he had made his home in the Waterloo community. He was a member of the Methodist church, the Waterloo Elks club, the Y's men's club, and the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Funeral services were held from Grace Methodist church at Waterloo on Nov. 17, and burial was made in the Memorial Park cemetery of that city.

Monroe Roseman Victim of Heart Attack

Monroe Roseman, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Roseman, died suddenly at his home in Waterloo, Tuesday, of a heart attack. He spent his boyhood in this community, graduating from the Earlham high school in 1923. He was 40 years old. He is survived by his wife, the former Alma Brown of Winterset, his four year old son, his father and mother and one brother, Dean.

Funeral services will be held at Waterloo, Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be there. His parents and brother, who reside in California, will arrive at Waterloo Friday.

Monroe J. Roseman, son of James and Clara Roseman was born October 3rd, 1905 near Van Meter, Iowa. He passed away from a heart attack after only an hours illness, in his home at Cedar Falls at the age of 40 years.

He is survived by his wife and son John Monroe, his father and mother and a brother, Dean.

When Monroe was five years of age his parents moved to Earlham where he attended school and graduated with the class of 1923. In his class he claimed many friends. He spent three years at Simpson College where he was affiliated with Alpha Delta fraternity.

He was united in marriage to Elma Brown of Winterset, at the Penn Center church of Madison county on July 15, 1935. To this union was born one son, John Monroe, March 27, 1942.

In his youth he was united with the Earlham M.E. church and later transferred his membership to the Grace M. E. Church of Waterloo.

Monroe had made his home in Waterloo since 1933. Prior to his employment at Unique Cleaners, he had been employed by the Repass Insurance Agency, John Deere Tractor Company, and the Rath Packing Co.

He was a member of the Waterloo Elks Club, the Y’s Mens Club and the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Funeral services were at Grace M. E. Church of Waterloo, Saturday, November 17th. The body was laid to rest in Memorial Park cemetery in Waterloo.

Relatives from a distance attending the services were his parents and brother Dean of Los Angeles, California; his aunts, Lula and Golden Jennings of Des Moines; an uncle, Roy Jennings of Elburn, Illinois; an aunt, Mrs. Fred Repass and family of Waterloo; an uncle, Ed Roseman and wife of Lorimor; and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Ellis of Redfield.

Mrs. Alice Brown, Mr. and Mrs. George Brown, John Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Halden Bertholf and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Verne Fairholm, and Mrs. Sid Hartman all of Winterset; Mrs. Alfred Drake and Ethel, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Brown of Patterson.

An aunt, Mrs. Myrtle Mitchell of Texas, and three uncles, Elmer Roseman of Los Angeles; Leland of New York, and Ward of Chicago were unable to attend.
