HAROLD EYERLY DIED ON THURSDAY

Young Winterset Business Man Was 28 Years of Age

Harold E. Eyerly, a young man well known in Winterset and Earlham, died at his home here last Thursday after having been stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been in ill health for several years. He was 28 years of age.

Mr. Eyerly was the son of Ray and Mabel Eyerly, and was born in Madison county July 11, 1917. He attended the Winterset schools and graduated from the local high school with the class of 1937. After graduation he worked for three years with his brother, Kenneth Eyerly, who was in business at Earlham. From there he went to Perry to work in the furniture business, but ill health compelled him to return home. After a partial recovery, he went into partnership with his father here in the poultry business.

He was married to Lois Graves on Sept. 2, 1945. Soon after his marriage he contracted a cold, which brought on an attack of an old ailment. He was taken to the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, where little hope was extended for his recovery, but he rallied sufficiently to return home and was convalescing when stricken by the cerebral hemorrhage.

He is survived by his wife; his parents; the brother, Kenneth Eyerly, now of Burlington; three sisters, Mrs. Wilma Rhine of Winterset, Lieut. Iola Eyerly of the Army Nurse corps, and Mrs. Aurola Oldham of Earlham.

Funeral services were held last Saturday from the Winterset Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

After his graduation he worked with his brother Kenneth who was in business in Earlham. He was united in marriage with Lois Graves September 2, 1945. Soon after his marriage he was taken ill with a cold and his former ailment became active and he was taken to the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines. Harold will be remembered as a congenial and friendly young man. He was trusted and admired by all who had dealings with him. He was a brave soul, cheerful to the very last. He was a member of the Winterset Methodist church and attended when his health would permit.
