GROVER BAKER Died Monday

Grover C. Baker of Winterset, member of a pioneer Madison county family, died Monday, July 13, 1970, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He had been in the hospital about a week, for treatment of a fractured pelvis, received in a fall. He was 85 years of age.

Mr. Baker was born near Peru April 6, 1885, a son of William N. and Emma Young Baker. His life-time was spent in Madison county. He was widely known over the county as a livestock buyer and auctioneer for many years, and formerly owned and operated the Winterset Sale barn. He had been retired since 1957.

Mr. Baker was married June 5, 1916, at Peru, to Dawn Waechter, who survives him.

He was a member of the Methodist church.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Willa R. Moore of Mt. Rainier, Md.; two grandaughters, and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Frey of Des Moines and Mrs. Gertrude Fenimore of Winterset. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
