JAMES MC NAMARA DIED ON MONDAY

Long-Time Union Township Farmer Was 81 Years of Age

James McNamara, one of Madison county's most widely known farmers for many years, died Monday at the Peterson Nursing home in Winterset after a long period of failing health. He was 81 years of age.

Mr. McNamara had lived in Madison county for 77 years. He was born in Des Moines on March 4, 1864, the son of Martin and Mary McNamara. When he was 4 years old he came with his parents to Madison county. They settled in Lee township, but a few years later moved to Union township where his home had been since then.

He was married in 1898 to Margaret Nolan. They were the parents of six children. One of them, James N. McNamara, died in 1937. The wife and mother died in 1933.

Mr. McNamara is survived by five children, Martin McNamara of Parsons, Kan., Joe McNamara at home, Mrs. Elizabeth Lewis of Tempe, Ariz., John McNamara of Mexico, Mo., and Frank McNamara of Winterset. He also leaves 12 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Rogers of Osceola.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning from St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. J. J. Judge. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
