Madison County Resident for 33 Years Dies at Age of 84
H. M. Brown, former Madison county resident, died Saturday, Nov. 10 at his home in Cut Knife, Saskatchewan, Canada, at the age of 84 years. Mr. Brown had been in poor health for several months and pneumonia caused his death.
Funeral services were held in the United Church at Cut Knife, Nov. 13th, with the minister, the Rev. G. A. Wilson, assisted by the Rev. W. T. Owens, conducting the services. Interment was made in that town, and the pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased: Clyde Haymond, Stanley Wolf, Paul and Gerald Brown and Laird and Junion Busch.
The late Mr. Brown was born in Washington county, Iowa, on Nov. 6, 1861. He moved to Madison county in 1877, and resided here until in 1911, when he located on a farm near Cut Knife. He served as a farmer all of his life, and since 1911 had resided in Canada.
He was married Feb. 26, 1888 at Winterset, to Miss Eliza Shaw. She survives him. He also leaves six children, all of Canada: Evert F. Brown of Cut Knife, Claude R. Brown and Elmo D. Brown of Vancouver, and three daughters, Ethel M. Haymond, Pheoba L. Wolf and Barbara L. Busch, all of Cut Knife. A daughter Evalyn, died while the family resided in this county, in 1910.
Mr. Brown was well known in Madison county and later became well known in Canada, where he was an early settler. Mr. Brown was a life member of the Methodist church.
