HERSCHEL BREEDING OF ST. CHARLES DIES

Succumbs June 1 to Cancer; Was Only 34 Years of Age

Herschel Breeding, well-known young man of the St. Charles community, died June 1 after a long illness. He was 34 years of age.

Walter Herschel Breeding, Jr., was the eldest son of Walter and Grace Breeding, and was born Aug. 7, 1908, at St. Charles. His entire life was spent in that community.

On June 18, 1934, he was married to Rachel Onstot. They were the parents of one son, Walter Fred Breeding.

Mr. Breeding attended the St. Charles schools, and graduated from high school there with the class of 1926. He also attended Drake university in Des Moines from 1926 to 1928, and Ohio State university in 1930 and 1931. He had been an employee of the Iowa State Fair since 1931.

He had been a member of the Methodist church since childhood, and was affiliated with the Masonic lodge and Order of Eastern Star.

He was stricken with cancer in February, 1941, and that malady was the cause of his death.

He is survived by his wife; his small son; his parents; two brothers, Carmen Breeding of Des Moines and Ernest Breeding of Pekin, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. Sam Martin, Jr. of St. Charles.

Funeral services were held last Thursday from the St. Charles Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. John Arnold, of Des Moines, assisted by the local pastor, the Rev. Michael Mollen. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
