Obituary

Solomon Holmes was born in North Carolina on the 16th day of March 1794. At the age of 19 he moved to Jackson County, Indiana, where he resided until 1855.

Mr. Holmes was in the war of 1812, and also a valiant soldier in the Army of the Lord for more than 40 years, being a member of the Church of the Deciples.

He again removed in 1855 to Iowa County, Iowa, where he lived until 1880, when he took up his abode with his only son, John Holmes, of Scott township, Madison county. He died March 31, 1883.

In the obituary notice in our last issue the printer made a mistake in the name of the subject. The correct name was Salmon Holmes instead of Soloman.
