Death of J. W. Peak

J. W. Peak, who formerly lived for a number of years in this county, died at his home in Wellston, Oklahoma, Friday, April 24th, at the age of 87 years. The deceased was born in Kentucky and was married in 1865 to Louann J. Bragg, who died thirteen years ago. The Peaks came to Madison county in 1866, and lived here in the Truro neighborhood, until 1908, when they moved to Wellston, Oklahoma. When they lived in this county they occupied a farm north of Truro. A son, Jesse O. Peek, was for many years in the drug business here.

He became a member of the Masonic fraternity in 1873, and at the time of his death held the distinction of being the oldest Mason in the Wellston Lodge No. 369, having been a member of the order for the past 58 years.

Mr. Peek is survived by three children, Jesse O., of Stillwater, Oklahoma; O. W. Peek, of Wellston, and Mrs. Callie D. Scott, of Arkansas City, Kansas.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 25th, in the Methodist church at Wellston, and burial was made in that cemetery.
