XENIA MONTROSS DIED THURSDAY

Mrs. Xenia E. Montross, a well-known resident of Madison County for the past 52 years, died last Thursday, May 2, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. She was 87 years of age.

Mrs. Montross was born May 28, 1886 at Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of James A. and Gertrude Thompkins Buchner. She was married to G. Lloyd Montross at Maquoketa in ----(date not legible).

Mrs. Montross attended Iowa State Teacher's college at Cedar Falls, and later taught school for several years at Sloan, Iowa.

Mrs. Montross was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Winterset. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary, the Madison County Antique Association, and the American Cancer Society.

She is survived by one son, George Montross of Winterset, and by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, H. Gale Buchner of Laguna Beach, California.

Mrs. Montross was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, G. Lloyd, in 1955; and by two brothers.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 6, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset, with the Rev. Alan Parker officiating.

Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
