Services for Clifford C. Stanley, 85, Dexter, a long-time resident of the area who died of a heart ailment Thursday, Mar. 31, 1983, at the Guthrie County Hospital, were held Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Dexter. Burial was at the Earlham Cemetery.
Mr. Stanley was born in Dallas County and lived most of his life in the Dexter and Earlham areas. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include daughters, Wilma Crase of Glendale, Ariz., Marcella Howe of Creston, Lila Love of Dexter and Evelyn Williams of Drexel, Mo.; sisters, Lelah Cook of Earlham and Helen Hougham of Adel; a brother, Wayne of Earlham; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Thursday, April 7, 1983Clifford Charles Stanley, ninth child of Charles Albert and Margaret Ann Wolverton Stanley, was born in Dallas County, Iowa on March 11, 1898. He attended the Pleasant Hill Rural School in Dallas County.
Clifford married Leatha Izeta Keesey on July 5, 1923. To this union five daughters were born: Alta Charlene Link, who precedes him in death; Wilma Jean Crase of Glendale, Arizona; Marcella Mae Howe of Creston, Iowa; Lila Faye Love of Dexter, Iowa, and Evelyn Francis Williams of Drexel, Missouri.
Clifford farmed in the Dallas and Madison counties nearly 40 years. He and his family moved to his farm two-and-one-half miles north of Dexter in 1940. His wife, Leatha, passed away in April of 1961. After her death he resided on the farm with his daughter, Charlene, and granddaughter, Charlotte Link.
Clifford enjoyed a hobby of collecting clocks throughout his lifetime. Perhaps most of all he enjoyed companionship with his many friends and relatives. His light-hearted humor was cheering to all he met.
Clifford passed away in Guthrie County Hospital on March 31, 1983.
He is survived by four daughters; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Leah Cook of Earlham, and Helen Hougham of Adel; one brother, Wayne Stanley of Earlham, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted on April 2, 1983 at the United Methodist Church in Dexter, Iowa, with the Rev. Robert Farr officiating. Norma Tigges provided organ music. Pallbearers were Steve Sanborn, Vern Cooley, Robert Bristol, John Hadley, Allen Atherton and Pat Brink. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Schwenneker and Vern Reynolds. Interment was in the Earlham Cemetery, Earlham, Iowa.
