BERNARD A. STANDING, Earlham

Bernard A. Standing, 90, of rural Earlham died of the effects of a stroke Tuesday, Dec. 27, 1988, at Madison County Memorial hospital. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Bear Creek Conservative Friends Meetinghouse north of Earlham. The body has been donated for medical research, and the ashes are to be interred in Bear Creek cemetery at a later date.

He was born northeast of Earlham and had farmed in the Bear Creek community most of his life, except for some time spent away from home at boarding schools and at William Penn college, also farming for three years in Adair county.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred (Mendenhall); two sons, Herbert of Earlham and John of San Francisco, Ca.; one daughter, Elsie Kuhn of Iowa City; two grandchildren, Rufus and Jennifer Kuhn of Iowa City; and one brother, Albert Standing of Springville; and three sisters, Alice Deutsch of Glendale, Ariz., and Amy Mott and Elsie Osborn of Earlham.
