Funeral services for Harry Meader, a life-long resident of the Peru community, were held Monday afternoon, Oct. 18, from the Kale Funeral home at Truro.
Mr. Meader died Oct. 14 at Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines. He was 75 years of age.
Harry Lyle Meader was born at Peru on Feb. 17, 1896, a son of Clarence Henry and Mamie Powell Meader. He was educated in Madison county schools, and farmed in the Peru area for many years. He was a member of the Church of God at Deer Creek.
He is survived by his wife, the former Dessie Decker; four sons, Leo of Peru, Clarence of Mill City, Oregon, Harry Lyle of Freeport, Texas and Elmer Clair of Bimidjii, Minn.; one brother, Archie Meader of Billings, Montana; two sisters, Francis Harris of Billings, Montana and Sylvia Woods of Sand Point, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ernest and Bill and one sister, Mary.
Officiating at the funeral service was the Rev. Richard Hempenius. Burial was in the Peru cemetery.

Funeral services were held for Harry Lyle Meader from the Kale Funeral Home in Truro on Monday, October 18. He died in Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines on Thursday, October 14. The 1:30 p.m. services were conducted by the Rev. Richard Hempenius of Truro.
Harry Lyle Meader was born in Peru, Iowa on February 17, 1896 and was the son of Clarence Henry Meader and Mamie Powell Meader. He was educated in the Madison County Schools and affiliated with the Church of God in Deer Creek. He lived in Madison County and was a farmer. On February 21, 1917 he was united in marriage to Dessie Leo Decker. Four children were born to this union.
Surviving relatives include wife, Dessie of Peru; sons, Leo Meader and wife, Dorothy of Peru, Clarence Meader of Mill City, Oregon; Harry Lyle of Freeport, Texas; Elmer Clair and wife, Dianna of Bemidji, Minnesota; brother, Archie of Billings, Montana; sisters, Francis Harris of Billings, Montana; Sylvia Woods of Sand Point, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
