ILA STALEY, Winterset

Ila Lucille Staley, 85, died Nov. 25, 2005, at Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Foursquare Gospel Church in Winterset with the Rev. Bob Epperson officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Ila Staley was born April 29, 1920, to Thomas Edward and Rosa (Singleton) Golay of Griswold. On Feb. 10, 1939, she married Wayne Eugene Staley in Maryville, Mo. In 1955, she moved to a farm in Madison County. She had been a resident of Winterset since 1993. Ila had worked at the local Ben Franklin store for 19 years. She also had been a cook and waitress for local restaurants and nursing homes for several years. She was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Robert and Russell Wayne Staley; one granddaughter, Melinda Kay Staley; a sister, Ellen Cecilia Starlin; two half-sisters, an infant, and Alma Groves Dieatrick; and a half-brother, Walter Groves.

She is survived by two sons, John Staley of Winterset and Jim Staley of Chesapeake, Va.; and nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
