LEE CLAMPITT FUNERAL HELD
Lee Clampitt, a well-known resident of the Winterset community for many years, died Monday, Dec. 20, at a nursing home in Ames. He was 87 years of age.
Robert Lee Clampitt was born in Madison county Aug. 6, 1884, a son of David and Annis Miller Clampitt. His active life was spent in farming. He lived 10 years in Minnesota, five years in Clarke county, and 20 years in Adair county, and the remainder of his life in Madison county. He retired in 1953 and moved to Winterset, where he lived until last October, when he moved to the Ames nursing home.
He was married Dec. 26, 1908, to Dennie E. Davis, who survives him.
He was a member of the Baptist church.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Donald R. Clampitt; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred F. Burger of Ames and Mrs. Emily M. Haines of Des Moines; five grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Lester Piatt of Earlham.
Funeral services were held last Wednesday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by C. A. McMurray. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
