Duane E. Steenhoek, 68, of rural Otley, formerly of Winterset, died enroute to the Pella Community Hospital of a heart attack Feb. 25, 1996. Funeral services were today, Feb. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Pella. Dr. Gary D. Smith officiated the services and interment was at the Oakwood Cemetery at Pella with military honors.
He was born in Leighton and lived in the Centerville, Moravia and Winterset areas before moving to Otley 1 1/2 years ago. A Navy veteran, he retired as a mechanical engineer from Ziegler, a Des Moines construction company. He had been a member of the Winterset Lions Club and former district director for Little League in the Centerville and Moravia areas.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Priscilla; six sons, Steven Steenhoek of St. Charles, Daryl Steenhoek of Altoona, Jerold Steenhoek of Winterset, Martin Steenhoek of Prole and Wade and Timothy Steenhoek of Des Moines; four daughters, Ruth McClure of St. Charles, Julie Worrall of Peru and Beth Steenhoek and Alice Parker, both of Winterset; one brother, Ernest Steenhoek of Pella; and 22 grandchildren.
