Donald Miller, Winterset

Donald Dwight Miller,78, of Winterset died of pneumonia Nov. 19, 2005 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, Nov. 23) at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery with military rites performed by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8142 and American Legion Post 184 both of Winterset.

Donald Miller was born May 29, 1927, in Clarke County to Percy and Edna (Luce) Miller. His marriage to Lucille Monagon took place Dec. 25, 1949. She preceded him in death. He later married Beverly McCauley on July 11, 1959 in Platte City, Mo. Donald was a lifelong area resident and had farmed all of his life. He also was a mechanic and had worked for various businesses-including the John Deere factory in Moline, Ill., following his service in the United States Army. He was a member of the Isaac Walton League and V.F.W. Post 8142 of Winterset. He also served as a board member for the Winterset Coop (Heartland Coop).

He was preceded in death by both wives and three sisters, Opal Harrison, Roberta Edwards and Arlene VonRay.

He is survived by one son, Michael Miller of Earlham; two daughters, Marsha Miller of San Angelo, Texas, and Audrey Jennings of Van Meter; two sisters, Twayla Brown of St. James. Mo., and Wanita Wabshaw of Valley Springs, S.D.; three brothers, Leo "Bud" Miller of Fresno, Calif., and Larry Miller and Bernard Miller, both of Murray; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Farm Safety 4 Just Kids.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
