E. Pauline Mease, 82, Truro, who died Aug. 29 at the Winterset Care Center South, were held Tuesday, Sept. 1 at the United Methodist Church in Truro with the Rev. Ann Louise Weisenfluh of Truro officiating. Burial was at the Hartman Cemetery.

Born Nov. 16, 1904 at Grundy, Mo., she was the daughter of Sylvester and Melissa Norton Hudson. She graduated from high school at Avalon, Mo., and the Chillicothe Business College at Chillicothe, Mo.

On Feb. 27, 1928, she was married to Jay L. Mease at Chillicothe and the couple had six children. They lived on a farm near Truro until 1975. Mrs. Mease was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was active in the Farm Bureau Women, the PTA, and the United Methodist Women.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Lois Jean Query and husband Critz of Lexington, N.C., Fran Bobzin and husband Darrell of West Des Moines, and Irene Cutter and husband Steve of New Bern, N.C.; sons Paul of New Orleans, La., Robert of San Marcos, Calif., and Cecil of Des Moines; a sister Mildred Whited of Chillicothe; brothers, Marion Hudson of Chillicothe and Bill Hudson of Sterling, Ill.; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Truro and the surrounding area extend their sympathy to the family of Pauline Mease, 82, who died Saturday, August 29 at the Winterset Care Center, South. Her husband, Jay, 92, has just recently moved to Country Haven, rural Winterset. Sons, Leland, of New Orleans, Louisiana; Robert, of Marcos, California; and Cecil, of Des Moines; and daughters, Lois Jean Query, of Lexington, Kentucky; Irene Cutter, of New Bern, North Carolina; and Frances Bobzin, of West Des Moines, were born and raised on the farm south of Truro, receiving their education in the Truro Community School. Jay and Pauline had lived in Truro for the past 12 years. They will be greatly missed by their many friends.

Elsie Pauline Mease

Elsie Pauline Mease, daughter of Sylvester and Melissa Norton Hudson was born November 16, 1904 in Grundy, Missouri. She passed away at the Winterset Care Center South, Winterset, Iowa on Saturday, August 29, 1987 at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 13 days.

She was educated in the schools at Avalon, Missouri, and attended the Chillicothe Business College at Chillicothe, Missouri.

On February 27, 1928, Pauline was married to Jay L. Mease in Chillicothe, Missouri, and to this union; six children were born. They had been married over 59 years.

They made their home to raise their family on a farm near Truro. Pauline was a member of the United Methodist Church at Truro, serving as the Sunday school superintendent, a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, was active in Farm Bureau Women, and active in PTA work as her children attended Truro Consolidated Schools. She worked actively with her husband on the family farm until they retired to live in Truro in November 1975. She was always interested in gardening, raising flowers and quilting.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Jay L. Mease of Winterset; sons, Paul L. Mease of New Orleans, Louisiana, Robert D. Mease of San Marcos, California, and Cecil W. Mease of Des Moines; daughters, Lois Jean Query and husband Critz of Lexington, North Carolina, Fran Bobzin and husband, Darrell of West Des Moines, Irene Cutter and husband, Steve of New Bern, North Carolina; 19 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Whited of Chillicothe, Missouri; and two brothers, Marion Hudson of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Bill Hudson of Sterling, Illinois, along with many relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church, Truro at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 1987 with Rev. Ann Louise Weisenfluh of Truro officiating. Burial was in the Hartman Cemetery, Madison County, Iowa.
