Richard Maxwell, Sr., Truro

Richard Harvey Maxwell, Sr., 64, of Truro, died Aug. 6, 1997 from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Funeral services were Aug. 9 at the Church of the Nazarene in Winterset with the Rev. Bill Branson officiating. Burial was at the Field Cemetery in Clarke County.

He was born in Maxwell on June 30, 1933 to John Ory and Gertrude Elizabeth (George) Maxwell. He married Patricia Branscomb on July 6, 1953 in Martensdale. He was retired from the Penn Dixie Rock Quarry and custom hay baling services. He had served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He had been a resident of Truro for the past 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one daughter; one brother, and one grandson.

Surviving relatives include three sons, Richard Maxwell Jr., and wife Kalina of Truro, Steve Maxwell and wife Carmen of St. Charles, and David Maxwell and wife Jeanette of Truro; two daughters, Phyllis Overdyk and husband Bill of Polk City and Kimberly Wilson and husband Bill of Mitchellville; two brothers, Lonnie Maxwell and Larry Maxwell, both of Winterset; three sisters, Helen Young of Winterset, Millie Ray of Branson, Mo., and Mary Ann Flesher of Melcher; and 15 grandchildren.
