Graveside services for Alfred Odell Mathews, 72, St. Charles, who died Oct. 6 at the Care Center South in Winterset where he resided, were held Tuesday, Oct. 9 at the St. Charles Cemetery with the Rev. Chet Waterman officiating.
Born June 25, 1912 in St. Charles, he was the son of Ralph and Elizabeth Downs Mathews. Mr. Mathews worked for the state, was a World War II veteran and member of the American Legion and Christian Church at St. Charles.
Survivors include sisters, Mary C. Addy of Winterset, Juanita Kellogg of Encino, Calif., and Ella Jean Fuson of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
