EDWIN A. GROUT DIED LAST WEEK

Succumbs at Age of 84 Years at Home of Daughter Near Dexter

Edwin A. Grout, a resident of Madison county most of his life, died on Wednesday of last week at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ambrose Cram, of near Dexter. He was 84 years of age.

Mr. Grout was the son of John Chester and Charlotte Winchell Grout and was born Nov. 5, 1858, in Knox county, Illinois. When he was 5 years old he came with his parents to Iowa. With the exception of a few years in Kansas and Missouri, he had lived in this county since that time.

On June 21, 1888, he was married to Miss Ida Belle Cooper. They were the parents of three sons and three daughters. Mrs. Grout died four years ago. One son died in infancy, and another, Lester, in 1916.

Mr. Grout united with the United Presbyterian church in 1913.

He is survived by four children, Mrs. Kathryn Cram, Charles Grout, Mrs. Lenna Waltz and Mrs. Mary Eckstein all of Madison county; one brother, H. A. Grout of Trinidad, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Friday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Reed Kessler. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

EDWIN A. GROUT DIED WEDNESDAY

Resident Of Madison County For Past 75 Years. Was 84 Years Old.

Edwin A. Grout died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ambrose Cram, of Madison county, on Wednesday morning, July 7 at the age of 84 years. Grout had been a resident of Madison county for about 75 years.

Funeral services were Friday, July 9 at the Ramsey and Richards funeral home with Rev. Reed Kessler officiating. Interment was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Edwin Ancin Grout, son of John Chester and Charlotte Winchell Grout, was born November 5, 1858, in Knox county, Illinois. He came to Iowa with his parents when a boy of five and, with the exception of a few years spent in Kansas and Missouri, he has lived in Madison county since.

He was married to Ida Belle Cooper on June 21, 1888, and to this union three sons and three daughters were born. One son died in infancy and Lester passed away in 1916, at the age of 17 years. Mrs. grout preceded her husband and death four years ago. Mr. Brownell united with the United Presbyterian church of Winterset in January, 1913.

He is survived by his children, Mrs. Kathryn Cram, Charles grout, Mrs. Lena Waltz, and Mrs. Mary Eckstein, all of Madison county; one brother, H. A. Grout of Trinidad, Colo.; eleven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
