LOLA BENNINGTON, Winterset

Lola Veta Bennington, 93, died Sept. 28, 2006, at Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 2, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Bobb Barrick officiating. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery in Terril with Doug Dingel officiating.

Lola Bennington was born Oct. 5, 1912, to Harvey and Hattie (Heath) Gripp of St. Marys and grew up in St. Charles. On May 7, 1938, she married Donald Robert Bennington in Spencer. Lola, a homemaker, resided in Terril until moving to Winterset in 1972. She was a member of Eastern Star, the Red Hat Club and the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Jean Ann Reno; and two brothers, Robert Leroy “Pete” Gripp and Lloyd Evan “Bus” Gripp.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Thomas of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Nadine Jackson of Terril; a sister, Dorris Reed of Osceola; and six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Winterset Care Center South Activity Fund or Middle River Hospice.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
