Page 10William Charles Orr, son of George and Catherine Orr, was born at Nevada, Ohio, on the third of July 1866, and passed from this life on the 31st day of May, 1931, having reached the age of 64 years, 10 months and 28 days. He came with his parents to Madison County, Iowa, in the fall of 1879, settling on a farm 7 miles South of Winterset.
On the 12th of March 1890, he was united in marriage with Myrtle Feely and the young couple went to live on a farm near the old home, and in this neighborhood they lived until they moved to Winterset four years ago. Neighbors bear testimony to the fact that he was always a good neighbor, kind and ready to help others. Two children were born into this home, Guy E. and Clifton C., both of whom have preceded him in death.
Mr. Orr united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Bethel at the age of 21, and never moved his membership from that church. For the past nine years his health has not been good, but he has constantly suffered, though not confined to his home until the past two weeks. His last days were filled with severe pain, but he bore it patiently, even then thinking of those about him rather than of his own suffering.
He leaves, beside his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Foster, and Mrs. Clara Feely; both of Denver, Colo., three brothers, Frank and Robert of St. Paul, Minn., and Harry of Winterset, a daughter-in-law in the home, Mrs. Reva Orr, and three grandchildren, Winifred, Gail and Ladena Orr.
