RICHARD MCNAMARA DIED LAST FRIDAY

Former Winterset Resident Had Lived 30 Years in Des Moines

Richard McNamara of Des Moines, a native of the Winterset community, died on Friday June 16, at Davenport, at the age of 78 years.

Mr. McNamara was a member of a well-known Madison county family. He was a son of John and Agnes McNamara. He was born near Winterset and made his home in this community during his early life. He had lived in Des Moines for 30 years, and was engaged in the real estate and insurance business there until his retirement 10 years ago.

He was a veteran of World War I, having served 13 months overseas in France with the U. S. Army. He was a charter member of Winterset's Green-Rogers post of the American Legion and a past commander of the post.

He was a member of the Sierra club in Des Moines, the American Legion, the 40 and 8 club, the St. Vincent de Paul society, and the Service Men's club of Des Moines.

Surviving are a son, Richard V. McNamara of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Eugene McNamara of Winterset; and a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Burch of Davenport.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from St. Augustin's Catholic church in Des Moines, with burial in Glendale cemetery.
