Mrs. Joyce Kendig

Joyce, daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Danner, was born in Wapello County, Iowa. The family moved to Winterset when she was a small child and were among the early families. She went to school in Winterset and she and her six sisters and two brothers were active in the social life of the young peope.

She was united in marriage to A. A. Kendig when a young woman and to this union one child was born, who died when two years old. They made their home in Oskaloosa for several years and while there Mrs. Kendig united with the M. E. church. Mr. Kendig preceded her in death several years.

In the later years she has made her home with her niece, Mrs. J. C. Mardis in Des Moines and in the past five years, she has made her home with another niece, Mrs. Mary Howell, and later with her cousin, Mrs. Helen Harris. A few months ago she came to Winterset to make her home with her sister, Mrs. J. W. Frankelberger.

Her life of quiet sweetness and helpfulness endeared her to many friends in Des Moines and Winterset. She has been in failing health for several years but has shown wonderful courage and fortitude and did not take to her bed until after the death of her niece, Mrs. Mardis, last week. She passed away at the home of her sister in Winterset on June 8th, 1926.

She leaves besides her sister, Mrs. Frankelberger, one brother, Charles, of Donovan, Missouri. Her brother and sisters who preceded her in death were J. M. Danner, for many years in Salt Lake City; Mrs. Angeline Cooley, formerly of Missouri; Mrs. Isabelle Moore, who lived in Minnesota; and Mrs. Geo D. Ratliff, Mrs. Leonard Williams, and Miss Jonah Danner, who made their homes in Winterset.
