Vernon McLaughlin, Cumming

Vernon J. McLaughlin, 73, of rural Cumming, died of cancer March 19, 1996 at the Winterset Community Care Center. Funeral services were March 23 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church Irish Settlement. Burial was at the St. Patrick's Cemetery in Cumming.

He was born in Des Moines and had lived most of his life in Cumming. He was a farmer and had served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church Irish Settlement; Knights of Columbus; and Cumming American Legion.

Surviving relatives include six brothers, Eugene McLaughlin of Des Moines, Ray and Lewis McLaughlin of Cumming, Francis "Bud" of West Des Moines, Charles McLaughlin of Las Vegas, Nov., and Marvin McLaughlin of Grand Rapids, Mich.
