Services for Rita Iola McLaughlin, 78, who died of cancer Nov. 21 at the Knoxville Hospital were held Sunday, Nov. 23 at the Bybee and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial was at South Oak Grove cemetery in Stuart.
She was born Sept. 18, 1908 at Stuart. She was the daughter of James and Eva Morgan Coffin. She was a resident of the Blair Chapel Community of eastern Madison County, from 1915 until her marriage to Lawrence Thomas McLaughlin Dec. 29, 1935.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Gentry, Ark.
Mrs. McLaughlin had spent the past 22 years at Siloam Springs, Ark., moving to Knoxville only a few weeks ago to be near her daughter.
Survivors include daughters, Marilyn Butler of Knoxville and Elaine Campbell of Arlington, Texas; a son, Harold of Fayetteville, Ark.; two sisters, Margaret Meeker of Lincoln, Ark., and Alice Wagner of Hartford, Mich.; a brother, Carlos of Centralia, Mo., nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and her husband, who died on Nov. 18, 1986.
