Shepherd - At Omaha, February 17th, Wallace Perry Shepherd, son of J. P. Shepherd of Douglas Township, aged 18 years 11 months.
Elsewhere on the same page - The record of deaths contains the notice of death of Wallace P. Shepherd, son of J. P. Shepherd of Douglas. The deceased went last fall on a trapping excursion on the Platte river, Nebraska, and while there was taken sick. He was brought as far as Omaha where he lingered for fourteen days. He was a kind hearted, well educated young man, much respected by all who knew him. He died a firm believer in the Christian religion, and now is in the enjoyment of the Christian's reward.
