Brooke McKeever, Winterset

Brooke Nicole McKeever, 9, died of cancer in her home March 25, 1933. Funeral services were held Mon., March 29 at Word of Life Christian Center with Pastor Dan Berry officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Brooke was born October 8, 1983, in Iowa City to Mark and Julie (Brown) McKeever. She attended Winterset Elementary School, where she was enrolled in the preschool and elementary special education classes. She won two gold medals in Special Olympics competition. Brooke attended children's church at Word of Life Christian Center.

"I always remember her as being such a happly little girl. She always seemed to enjoy what we were working on," said Jo Giles, Brooke's former teacher.

Surviving relatives include her parents; two brothers, Mark Jr. and Justin and one sister, Lindsay, all at home; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Monty McKeever of Winterset and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Brown of Diagonal; and two great-grandmothers, Doris Davis of Winterset and Edna Brown of Prole.
