CURTIS MCFADDEN DIES SUDDENLY

HAD BEEN ILL FOR SOME TIME BUT CONDITION NOT CONSIDERED SERIOUS

FUNERAL HELD SATURDAY

Prominent Young Winterset Farmer Dies at His Home East of City Thursday Afternoon

Curtis McFadden well known and popular Winterset farmer, died Thursday, February 20th at his home east of the city after a short illness. He had been suffering with diabetes for several years but his condition was not considered serious until Wednesday.

Curtis moved to Winterset with his parents in 1903. They lived on the old Koehler farm north of the city. He attended the Winterset school in 1908. He was one of the best athletes in the school and lead in all basketball and football contests.

Curtis D. McFadden, son of D. W. and Zillah McFadden was born May 31, 1890, at Eden, Illinois. He moved to Madison county with his parents in 1903. He graduated from the Winterset high school in 1808 (should be 1908). He attended the state agriculture college at Ames in 1914 and 1915. He was married to Miss Lucile Trester March 7th 1916 and was living east of Winterset, with his father at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, one brother, Sam, a sister, Edith, and his parents.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the United Presbyterian church by Rev. W. J. Stewart. Interment was made in the Rock City cemetery.
