Former Resident Succumbed on March 16 at Age of 67 Years
John L. Jones, a life-long resident of Iowa, died March 16 at the age of 67 years.
Mr. Jones was born in Madison county on Sept. 14, 1874, the son of Benton and Laura Jones. He was married to Lydia May Delong on May 30, 1899. They were the parents of seven children, all of whom were at their father's bedside at his death.
He spent all his life, with the exception of a year in Colorado, in this state. In recent years he had lived at Cooper and Jefferson. He was a member of the Christian church.
In addition to his wife, he leaves the seven children: Mrs. Gailen Mease of Truro, Mrs. F. A. Larson of Dallas, Tex., Mrs. M. B. Cunningham of Norwalk, Benton Jones of Cedar Rapids, Keith Jones of the United States army, and Mrs. Cleo Day and Mrs. Victor Kinder of Los Angeles, Cal.; in addition to seven sisters, a brother, and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 18, from the Kale funeral home in Truro, in charge of the Rev. W. W. Watson. Burial was made in the Field cemetery.

Page 7, Column 4John Lorraine Jones, son of Benton and Laura Jones, was born in Madison County, Iowa, September 14, 1874 and died Monday morning, March 16, 1942, at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 2 days.
He was united in marriage to Lydia May DeLong, May 30, 1899. To them were born seven children: Mrs. Gailen Mease of Truro, Iowa; Mrs. F. A. Larson, of Dallas, Texas; Mrs. M. B. Cunningham, of Norwalk, Iowa; Benton of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Keith of the United States Army; Mrs. Cleo Day and Mrs. Victor Kinder, of Los Angeles, California. All were at his bedside during his last illness.
He lived in Iowa all his life, except one year, spent in Colorado. He was a member of the Christian church.
In his declining years, his great interests were his family, his radio and visiting with friends. In the Cooper and Jefferson communities, where he had lived since 1924, he was known to old and young, as Dad Jones. His courage and patience were unfailing, even to the last. He was a kind and loving husband and father.
In addition to his wife and seven children, he is survived by eleven grandchildren, seven sisters and one brother, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held from the Kale Funeral Home in Truro, Iowa on Wednesday afternoon, March 18, with the Rev. W. W. Watson officiating. Interment was made in the Field cemetery.
