E. B. SHACKELFORD OF KASSON DIES

Ellis B. Shackelford, elderly farmer of the Kasson neighborhood, died at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines Tuesday afternoon after a long illness. He was about 70 years of age.

Mr. Shackelford is survived by his wife and several children.

Funeral services will be held in Winterset from Anderson's home for funerals at 2 p.m. this Thursday.

E. SHACKLEFORD DIES AT AGE 70

Last Rites Held Thursday at Anderson’s. Two Children Survive.

Ellis B. Shackleford, Madison county farmer, died at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines Tuesday of last week following a lingering illness. He was 70 years of age.

Funeral services were held at the Anderson funeral home Thursday afternoon at two o’clock with Rev. Tom Foglesong, pastor of the local Church of Christ officiating. Pallbearers were Ira Kingery, Tom Wearmouth, Clark Farlin, Max Comer, Ray Handley and V. L. Kerns. Interment was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Ellis Shackleford was born in Davis county, Iowa, September 10, 1871. Most of his life was spent in and around Madison county. On June 4, 1897 he was united in marriage to Lula M. Craven and they were the parents of two children. He became a member of Church of Christ in 1936 while living near Macksburg.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Zola Higgins and one son, Larkin Shackleford, four sisters, Mrs. Dean Handley, Mrs. May Klingsmith, Mrs. Anna West and Miss Alice Shackleford, two brothers, James and Owen, five grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
