October 1938Anne Eliza Hall, daughter of Nelson and Sarah Hall was born at Athens, Illinois, August 19th, 1844 and passed away at her home in Earlham, October 27, 1938, at the age of 94 years, two months and 17 days.
On February 19, 1862 she was united in marriage to James M. Brown at her home in Athens. To this union was born seven children. The husband and three children preceded her in death, Elbridge Lee at the age of four, Charles Vernon in 1907 at the age of 31 and Mary Etta Knudson in 1912 at the age of forty-seven.
In the fall of 1865 she with her husband and two small daughters moved in a covered wagon to Iowa and located on a farm three miles northeast of Earlham where they made their home until 1900 when they moved to Earlham where she lived until her death.
She leaves to mourn her passing three daughters and one son, Jennie E. Harrison, Clara S. Compton, Milo E. Brown and Leona M. Marks, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Two brothers, Robert Lee Hall of Utica, Missouri, and John L Hall of Boise, Idaho, and one sister Ella Campbel of Athens, Illinois, also survive.
She and her husband were charter members in the Presbyterian church at Earlham and attended as long as her health permitted.
