Wednesday, September 30, 1998Hazel Pearl Schoonover, 93, of Winterset died from complications of pneumonia Sept. 24, 1998 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Sept. 26, at Winterset Cemetery with Pastor John Shaull officiating.
Hazel Schoonover was born Jan. 21, 1905, in Madison County to Lester and Elinor (Breeding) Holmes. She married Earl C. Schoonover on May 23, 1924 in Winterset. A lifetime resident of Madison County, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son and one brother.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen Peterson (husband Oren) of Winterset and Elinor Rankin of Waukee; three sisters, Mildred Bek and Edith Shaw, both of Winterset and Mary Fife of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
