Services for Maxine E. McConnell, 57, Des Moines, who died July 3 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center were held Monday, July 6, at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Kathleen Clark of Orient officiating. Burial was at the Moon cemetery near Macksburg.

Born in Winterset Sept. 6, 1929, she was the daughter of Ray John and Esther Busch Schulz. Mrs. McConnell was a secretary and waitress and had worked for Employers Mutual Insurance Co. and Conney Island restaurant.

She was married to Carl Purkapile and later married to John McConnell on April 24, 1954.

She was a resident of Des Moines the past 30 years, moving there from Winterset, and was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
