HARRY E. MCCOMBIE BURIED AT WINTERSET

Harry E. McCombie, a native of Winterset and formerly a druggist in this community for many years, was buried in the Winterset cemetery last Saturday. The Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset conducted the graveside service.

Mr. McCombie died last Wednesday, April 21 of a heart attack while driving his car in Waterloo. He was 71 years of age, and had lived in Waterloo since 1943. He was retired from a position as group supervisor for the Internal Revenue service at Waterloo.

Mr. McCombie was born at Winterset June 12, 1893, a son of John and Harriet Edwards McCombie. He graduated from Babcock school of pharmacy in Des Moines in 1914, and worked at that profession in Mason City before returning to Winterset to work in the Krabiel pharmacy for many years. He later purchased that pharmacy and operated it under the name of McCombie Drug company, until 1933 when he sold to Herman Lewis and accepted a position with the Internal Revenue service at Council Bluffs. He lived there until 1943. He had been retired since 1963.

Mr. McCombie served in France during World War I as a member of the Rainbow division of the U.S. army. He was a member of the Methodist church.

In 1917 he was married at Montezuma to Ivy Hutchinson, who survives him. He also leaves tow sons, Robert C. McCombie of the U. S. Naval Training center in Ogden, Utah, and John E. McCombie of Schenectedy, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.
