George E. Bricker Died March 14 After Week’s Illness

Geo. E. Bricker, eldest son of Angelina and Cephus D. Bricker was born December 21, 1875 and died at his home in Des Moines, March 14, 1941 after an illness of one week.

He was born on a farm near Penn Center where he spent his youth. He moved to Earlham where he went into the mercantile business with his father. Here he continued in business for forty years and during this time he was an ardent worker in the Methodist church and the Odd Fellow Lodge.

His education was obtained in the Earlham Academy and Simpson College.

In 1898 he married Myrtle Rhode of Fort Madison. To this union were born five children one daughter Elva died in infancy.

In 1927 he sold his business interests in Earlham and with his family moved to Des Moines, where he founded a successful insurance agency.

He was a forceful and dynamic personality and he counted his friends by the people he met.

He was unusually devoted to his family and his in-laws.

He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, Mrs. Geo. Bricker and children, Mr. And Mrs. R. J. Lewis, Mr. And Mrs. D. A. Byrne, Mr. And Mrs. E. J. Breheny, Mr. And Mrs. Dayle Bricker and two grandsons, Dennis and Terance Byrne, one sister, Mrs. C. P. Benson, one brother, Carol O. Bricker, two nephews, Paul Weatherly and Howard Bricker, two nieces, Eleanor Benson and Mrs. Harold Fagen, one sister-in-law, Vada C. Rhode.
