Doris Irene Bricker

Doris Irene Bricker was born on a farm in Dallas County, Iowa, on August 27, 1902, the daughter of Elmer and Stella Boone Robison. She lived and attended grammar school in this rural area east of Booneville, until she moved to West Des Moines to attend high school.

On February 12, 1925, Doris was married to Carl O. Bricker of Earlham, and to this union was born one son, Howard. Doris resided in the family home in Earlham for 51 years after her marriage. During that period she was active in the Earlham Methodist Church and various other local organizations. Doris worked along side her husband in their grocery store in Earlham for 15 years until his retirement.

In recent years, Doris worked for the Town of Earlham in the capacity of water clerk until her own retirement in October 1976. At that time because of failing health, Doris was forced to give up her home in Earlham and move into the Villa West retirement home in Winterset. She remained there until her death from cancer on October 15, 1977.

Survivors to mourn her passing include her son, daughter-in-law, and two grandsons, Howard, Noreen, Aaron and Andrew Bricker of Lakewood, California; her sister, Clara McAllister of Boone; her two brothers, Earl and Carroll Robison of Des Moines and Waukee; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.

Memorial services were held at the Earlham Methodist church on October 18, 1977 at 10:00 a.m., interment at Earlham cemetery.
