REX MCCLINTOCK DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Rex McClintock, formerly a well-known resident of Winterset and Madison county, died Nov. 12 at San Luis Obispo, Calif. He was 80 years of age.

Mr. McClintock was born in Winterset Aug. 14, 1884, a son of Silas W. and Anna Gunllock McClintock. His early life was spent at Winterset. He served as a rural mail carrier here for many years, and later engaged in farming. In later years he farmed near Coon Rapids and then Osceola. He was one of the first directors of Clarke County Rural Electric cooperative.

He was married March 17, 1903 to Gertrude M. Longmire. They were parents of four chiildren, one son dying in infancy. The wife and mother died in 1945, after which he retired from farming and moved into Osceola. In 1948 he was married to Helen Toll. Practically all their married life was spent in California.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Kenneth McClintock of Osceola; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Betts of Coon Rapids and Mrs. Berniel Waller of Weldon; a stepson Carroll Toll of Kansas City; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred McClintock of Winterset.

Funeral services were held from the Webster Funeral home in Osceola Nov. 17, in charge of the Rev. Joe King of Weldon. Burial was made in Maple Hill cemetery.
