Winterset Resident Nearly Half Century Dies at Iowa City
Theodore R. McCauley of Winterset died Sunday, July 9, at University hospital in Iowa City after an extended period of failing health. He was 57 years of age.
Mr. McCauley was born in this county Sept. 16, 1903, a son of Alexander and Rebecca Montgomery McCauley. His home had been in Winterset for almost half a century. For many years he had been engaged in driving a truck.
He was married March 9, 1926, to Dorothy Green, who survives him. He also leaves six sons, Robert and Larry McCauley of Winterset, Alvin McCauley of Adel, Richard McCauley of the U.S. army, and Teddy and John McCauley of Glenwood; and five daughters, Mrs. Beverly Miller of Winterset, Mrs. Goldie Wilkinson of Newport, Ore., Mrs. Doris Pickins of Des Moines and Bertha and Kay McCauley of Des Moines. Two sons preceded him in death.
Also surviving are two brothers, Tom McCauley of St. Marys and Dick McCauley of Winterset; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Graham and Mrs. Rebecca Francis of Winterset and Mrs. Elizabeth Kriebel of Chicago.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. John E. Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church here. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
